Architectural images use perspective. Look at the grain elevator from a corner and see two sides, one side receding to the left, one to the right. This is how the image of the Sawyer and McCraken Mill is organized. The narrow silver elevation recedes to the left to the large brick flour mill. The telephone lines carry your eye down the street to the white building in the distance. When you put your hand over the white building, mill and the elevator lose their anchor in the composition.
