Flaming Brook Savanna

At Flaming Brook Savanna near the headwaters of the Mississippi,the wetlands in the foreground are cast in the shadow of a bluff, while the evening sun acts as a spotlight on a tamarack swamp in the background. To bring out the detail in the shadow, I measured the light in the shadow. When the negative is printed, more light is poured on the background, while light is held back on the foreground. Photographers call it burning and dodging.
