Skunk River: Fertile Mill

 

 

William Rhodes migrated to Worth County, Iowa in 1852 at the age of nineteen. He settled on a mill site on the banks of the Winnebago River, laid a dam across the river, and built a saw mill. Twelve years later he replaced the saw mill with this two and a half story flour mill, capable of grinding fifty barrels of flour a day.
